First-Time Registration

Step 1: In the below window, register an account for yourself on The People’s Coalition (if not done already)

Step 2: Click on your account activation link in the email that was sent to you (if not done already)

Step 3: In the window below, create or find the Google Calendar for your group

  1. If needed, log in to or create your Google account (free).
  2. If a Google Calendar for your group does not already exist, create one:
    1. At the bottom of the “My calendars” section on the left, click Create.
    2. Enter the required information and select Make this calendar public.
    3. Scroll down and click Create Calendar.
  3. If your group’s calendar does not show up in the list on the left, add it:
    1. Find your group’s calendar using Search Public Calendars at the top of the page.
    2. Click Add to Calendar.
    3. At the top, click << Back to Calendar.

Question: Why do I need to use Google Calendar?
Answer: In order for different groups to work harmoniously together and have everyone be able to view events from different groups on a single calendar, a common calendar system is needed. Google’s calendar system, besides having many import and export options, is one of the most popular and easiest to use, is constantly improving, and is free. If you are currently using some other calendar system, you will most likely want to thank me for getting you to use Google Calendar. It is a great system.
Question: Can I customize and embed my group’s Google Calendar on my webpage?
Answer: Yes, Google even provides a specialized tool for this.

Step 4: Identify your group’s Calendar Address

  1. Above, in the calendar list on the left, click on the down-arrow next to your group’s calendar.
  2. Select “Calendar settings” in the menu that pops up.
  3. Scroll down to the Calendar Address section and click .
Note: The URL that pops up will be put in the Google Calendar HTML URL field during the next step, below.

Step 5: In the below window, log in to The People’s Coalition and register your group on the GVP

Congratulations! Now your group is fully tapped in to the power of the GVP!
